I used to own the slate 1 - too inaccurate at the time. The Repaper is a massive improvement.
Down sides- very few - the ring itself could perhaps be a bigger size to fit round things like Faber Castells own art fine liners or develop some fine liners with built in rings. The A5 size is limited for comic art and so an A4 size would be really welcomed. The app could be improved to have a rotate feature and some more features to make you want to keep editing digitally in the same app but you can switch app which is fine and that’s it for cons! Very little negative to say.
The pros- lightweight, portable, comfortable to sit with at the sofa and doodle away. Comes with a decent number of pages in a blank drawing pad. The Faber Castell Team up was a very wise move indeed. The new clutch pencil is comfortable and great to use. The possibility to use a pencil, colour pencil, biro or gel pen etc. Is welcomed indeed. Haven’t tried the stylus yet but understand it has pressure sensitivity and so can be useful on other drawing apps like clip studio paint while sensing what you do physically. Gives you the combined fun of actually drawing on paper and seeing it instantly on screen. Buy the version I have and use it without a tablet, save the drawing and then download it later. Very convenient, made with artists in mind and above all it is fun and satisfying to use.
More thought could perhaps be given to comic artists and I think this would appear by adding more features to the app and creating an A4 or …even and A3 Repaper. Accuracy is spot on! Really there is almost nothing to complain about it’s a fantastic product and a good value. Can even be used as a graphics tablet with a screen. Highly compatible with the iPad which is great. You can also stick a ring on the rubber end of your pencil, select the rubber option and then erase on your page and on screen simultaneously. Oh and Lift your pencil and it still remembers where your line art is. A really great product. Highly recommended.
